Introduction
The Inbox API uses task templates. Your templates can contain one or more Mail Credentials, with a limit of 20 in a singular template.
Setup & Recommendations
- To create a Mail Task Template, you must first add Mail Credentials. You can read how to add credentials here.
- Task Templates are useful when you are using catchall emails (email credentials that receive emails from various email addresses) and want to use them to confirm your OTP login codes on sites such as Outlook/Hotmail and Nike.
Enabling the Inbox API
1. Navigate to the Settings > Tasks section of Inbox.
2. Click the Enable Tasks checkbox.
3. Click the Save button. Inbox will show a dialog that says the application needs to be restarted. Click the Yes button on that dialog.
4. Navigate to the Settings > Tasks section of Inbox. Your Inbox API Key will appear. You can copy the API key and input it into applications that support the Inbox API.
Creating a Task Template
1. Navigate to the Task Templates section of Inbox in Mail. When you hover over it, an icon that looks like a book with two lines on it appears titled Task Templates.
2. Click the Create button at the top left of the view.
3. This opens the Create Mail Task Template dialog. Input the Name of the Category you'd like to add, then input the Name of the Template in the field below Name.
4. On the right-hand side, select the Mail Credentials. You can expand the category by clicking the arrow icon(>). Click on the box to select the credentials you want in this template.
5. Your template will then be created; if needed, you can edit it by clicking on it and then clicking Edit.
