Profile Builder is an ever-evolving tool bringing you more ways to manage profiles and create accounts. As of Profile Builder 3.0, account generation was moved from Generator to Profile Builder. The setup for Gmail and Yahoo is different, so we have created separate sections of the guide for each provider.
Before you begin to set up, keeping a few things in mind is important. First, this system is best used with the email you receive your catchall mail on, or optionally the account set up to be forwarded to. It is also important to note that this is not required to generate accounts, but it will make the process more automated.
Gmail
In order to successfully add your Gmail account as a Mail Provider in Profile Builder, you will need to create an App Password. Since App Passwords are only available to Gmail accounts with 2FA enabled, you must begin by enabling 2FA on your Google Accounts. You can follow the steps below or in the Enable Google Account 2FA guide.
Enable 2FA | Generate an App Password | Adding Mail Credentials
Enable 2FA:
- Log into your Google Account and go to myaccount.google.com.
- Once there, click Security from the left, then click on 2-Step Verification.
- From there, you will need to enter a phone number you can use to receive a verification code, then click on next.
- After you enter your verification code, it will give you the option to enable it.
You may want to further secure your accounts with a 2FA app. We highly recommend Bitwarden Premium, which also acts as a Password Manager; however, you can also download the Authenticator App (iPhone or Andriod) or a 2FA software of your choice. The complete steps are covered in the Enable Google Account 2FA guide.
Generate an App Password
Now that you have 2FA enabled on your account, you can generate an App password.
- Navigate to this link https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords. You will be prompted to enter the password for your Google Account again.
- Once you have verified yourself, you will be at the App passwords section, select an App, or you can give it a Custom Name and press Generate. It will create an App Password for Profile Builder. Copy this text and leave the dialog open until you have added it to Profile Builder.
Adding Mail Credentials
- If you have not already, open Profile Builder to the Accounts Tab. On the left click on the Mail Envelope icon, and press create. Enter Google as the Provider, your Email, and finally, the App password you copied from the App passwords page and press Save.
- Once you press Save, Profile Builder will verify whether it is able to successfully connect and display a Status Message.
With your credentials added you can begin to generate accounts and let Profile Builder take care of the email verification.
