Introduction
You can use the forwarding tools in Inbox to configure your accounts and automatically forward incoming emails to the selected email address.
Setup & Recommendations
- To forward your Outlook accounts, you need to add your accounts to Inbox. Click here to learn how to add your account credentials to Inbox.
- You can configure how many tasks run concurrently in Settings > Mail | Account Tools.
- It would be best to prioritize using the Rules Forwarding flow, as it has a higher success rate and does not require the account to be SMS verified.
Email Forwarding
1. Navigate to the Accounts section of Inbox in Mail. When you hover over it, an icon that looks like a book with a person on it is titled Accounts.
2. Select the accounts you want to set up email forwarding. Then click the Tools button and select Outlook Enable Rule Forwarding or Outlook Enable Email Forwarding.
3. If you want emails to populate in the emails tab after your account is logged in, enable the Sync mail after login checkbox.
4. If you want to force relogin into the credentials before running the forwarding tool, enable the Force re-login credentials checkbox.
5. Select a Mail Task Template to use. The Mail Task Template is used if your accounts encounter 2FA codes that must be handled via IMAP. You can assign catchall/forwarded emails to your Mail Task Template. Click here to learn how to create a Mail Task Template.
6. Select an SMS Task Template to use. The SMS Task Template is used if your accounts encounter SMS verification pages during the login or forwarding flow. You can assign third-party SMS credentials to SMS Task Templates to automatically handle SMS codes. Click here to learn how to create an SMS Task Template.
7. Optionally, you can specify a Custom Password to use if Outlook forces you to change your password during login. Inbox will automatically handle this and replace the existing password in your Inbox credential. If you leave this field blank, Inbox will generate a random 16-character password for each account.
8. Select the emails you want your accounts to forward to. You can select accounts already saved to the Mail Accounts section in Inbox or provide a list of emails in the Emails section of the dialog.
9. After configuring the dialog, click the Start button. Your tasks will begin to set up forwarding. If they are successful, the status will display "Email Rule Forwarding Enabled" or "Email Forwarding Enabled."
