Introduction
Some providers, such as Hotmail/Outlook, require you to log in to your accounts via OAuth2. You can use automatic or manual login options to access your email credentials, view your emails, use mail scrapers, and more.
Setup & Recommendations
- To login to your Outlook/Hotmail accounts, you need to add your email credentials to Inbox. Click here to learn how to do this.
- Microsoft prompts for various forms of verification during login. Inbox can automatically handle TOTP 2FA and recovery email codes. You can add your TOTP 2FA and recovery email to your credentials.
- We recommend using automatic login initially. You can use manual login if some of your accounts encounter additional security measures that Inbox does not automatically handle.
- If your accounts are locked or need recovery emails added to log in, you can use Profile Builder > Account Builder Update Jobs to handle this process automatically. Click here to learn how to use Profile Builder Outlook tools.
- You can configure how many OAuth2 browsers run concurrently in Settings > Advanced.
Automatic Login
1. Navigate to the Credentials section of Inbox in Mail. When you hover over it, an icon that looks like a book with a person on it is titled Credentials.
2. Select the accounts you want to login to with OAuth2 and then right-click > OAuth2 Login > Automatic.
3. The OAuth2 Login Options dialog will appear. If your accounts are prompting for a recovery email and email code confirmation, you can select a Mail Inbox Task Template to automatically scan for Mail OTP codes. You can learn how to setup Mail Task Templates by following this guide.
4. You can enable the Sync mail after login checkbox to automatically sync your mail once your accounts have logged in.
5. If you want to re-login to existing credentials, you can enable the Force re-login credentials checkbox.
6. Your accounts will attempt to login. When they successfully log in, the Login Status shows "Logged In," and the Status shows"Good."
Manual Login

3. A browser will open, allowing you to manually input your account login details and handle any additional security questions.
Force Re-Login OAuth2
1. You can use the Force Re-Login OAuth2 Tool to reset the browser data on your mail credentials to re-login to the account.
2. Navigate to the Credentials section of Inbox in Mail. When you hover over it, an icon that looks like a book with a person on it is titled Credentials.
3. Select the OAuth2 accounts you want to re-login to, then click the Tools button and select the Force Re-Login to OAuth2 option. Alternatively, you can select your accounts, right-click > Tools > Force Re-Login to OAuth2.
