Introduction
Some providers, such as Hotmail/Outlook, require you to log in to your accounts via OAuth2. You can easily switch the login method of your existing email credentials to OAuth2 with the Switch Login to OAuth2 Tool.
Setup & Recommendations
- To use the Switch Login to OAuth2/Basic Tools, you need to add mail credentials to your Inbox. Click here to learn how to do this.
- To log in via OAuth2, you must use a standard password. App passwords are only supported with Basic login.
- If you want to switch your existing accounts from Basic login to OAuth2 login, use the Switch Login to OAuth2 Tool.
- If you want to switch your existing accounts from OAuth2 login to Basic login, use the Switch Login to Basic Tool.
Switch Login to OAuth2
1. Navigate to the Credentials section of Inbox in Mail. When you hover over it, an icon that looks like a book with a person on it is titled Credentials.
2. Select the accounts you want to switch the login to OAuth2, then click the Tools button and select the Switch Login to OAuth2 option. Alternatively, you can select your accounts, right-click > Tools > Switch Login to OAuth2.
3. A dialog will appear confirming the selected credentials have been switched to OAuth2 login.
Switch Login to Basic
1. Navigate to the Credentials section of Inbox in Mail. When you hover over it, an icon that looks like a book with a person on it is titled Credentials.
2. Select the accounts you want to switch the login to Basic, then click the Tools button and select the Switch Login to Basic option. Alternatively, you can select your accounts, right-click > Tools > Switch Login to Basic.
3. A dialog will appear warning you that only the Email/Username and Password fields will transfer. If you want to continue, click the Yes button.
4. After clicking yes, a dialog confirming the tool switched the selected credentials to Basic login will appear.
